How these estimates are worked out
  • Electricity: 60 kWh a month for the home, 70 kWh per person and 30 kWh more for a small house or 60 kWh for a large one. Electric heating adds 100 kWh per m² a year.
  • Gas: heating takes about 20 m³ per m² a year in a house and 14 m³ in a flat, mostly from November to March. Cooking and hot water take about 12 m³ per person a month, or 5 m³ for cooking only with district heating.
  • Petrol: kilometres a month times what your car uses per 100 km.
  • Groceries: 2,600 MDL per person a month. BNS 2025 puts urban spending at about 6,500 MDL per person, around 40% of it on food.

Questions people ask

01Where do the figures come from?

From named public sources: ANRE for electricity and gas tariffs and supplier offers, the fuel networks and ANRE's e-Carburanți for pump prices, and the National Bureau of Statistics (BNS) for national grocery averages. Shop prices are checked by hand. Every figure shows its source and date, and the Sources page lists them all.

02How often are prices updated?

Tariffs change only when ANRE approves a new decision, and the site records the date each one takes effect. Fuel prices are checked against the networks' own pages. BNS grocery averages come out monthly, about two weeks after the month ends. Shop prices carry the date they were checked.

03Is next month's figure a promise?

No. It is a planning estimate. The calculator prices your use at today's published rates, then shows a cautious plan and a stress test. A proposal that is still waiting for approval is marked pending and is never treated as a price in force.

04Does the site save what I type?

No. What you enter in the calculator and the planner stays in your browser tab. It is not sent, saved or tracked, and it is gone when you close or reload the page.

05How is the shop basket compared?

The same everyday items are priced in each shop and scaled to the same pack sizes. Only items found in every shop count towards the totals, so the comparison is like for like. Delivery-app prices can differ from shelf prices, and offers end on their stated date.

06Can I get help with energy bills?

The government's Ajutor la contor scheme helps eligible households with energy costs. You can check and apply at compensatii.gov.md or call the free helpline on 0 8000 5000.

07Who runs Gospodăria?
